I am pretty excited to be writing this post. Bugg passed lamb!

With FPIES each food Bugg eats could potentially cause her to have a reaction, so each new food must be introduced gradually over a period of a few days or weeks. This slow roll allows for careful monitoring of symtoms so we can see if she is tolerating the new food or if it is a trigger.

Almost two weeks ago we started with 3mLs of diluted grass fed lamb broth.
You might think that such a small amount of liquid couldn't possibly be enough to have make an impact but let me tell you, it is, and it did.
For three nights she was miserable, and for three days I debated calling it quits and writing it off.
Her diapers were gross(er than usual) and she was back to arching and screaming in pain.
We pushed through and made An appointment with the doctor who manages her FPIES.
Dr. P increased her Zantac and wished us luck.
Thankfully for everyone who sleeps in our house, the new dose worked and Bugg is back to only waking up 3-5 times a night. 🎉 Wahoo!!

We have since progressed from strained broth to unstrained broth to finely diced meat and Bugg is loving it.
There has been a learning curve for us both as she investigates new tastes and textures and learns how to coordinate chewing and swallowing but we are making great progress. Despite the fears of her GI team at the children's hospital she seems to know exactly what she is supposed to be doing and is more than happy to oblige. {Turns out developing pica and a literal taste for books has an upside!} 😂

So after 12 days, I am calling it. Lamb is a pass! 🐑
Which means not only does Bugg have a solid food she can eat everyday, but I can introduce it into my diet too! I'm not gonna lie, I'm pretty psyched for some variety.

next up... broccoli.
