A day at the fair

I know I'm not alone in saying that I love a good ol' country fair. From the animals to the people there is always plenty to see and experience. Last year at this time I was 38 weeks pregnant and breathing through daily prodromal (false) labour. Just the thought of hauling my pregnant self and my energizer bunny-esque, not quite two year old through the crowds was enough to exhaust me, so I was excited to make some memories this time around! Saturday morning I packed the diaper bag full of essentials (snacks, diapers, wipes, antihistamine suppositories and an ice pack {you know, the usual} ), strapped the kids into their car seats and hit the road.

When we got to the fair we made sure to hit up all the classic activities: the petting zoo, small animal barn, giant bin corn kernels and horse bums (the heavy horse barn) before we made our way to midway.

The lines were short, the tickets expensive and the toddler was humming with excitement (the baby on the other hand was bored and frightened by the big animals). Tickets in hand Moose and I waited for our turn on the Ferris Wheel.

Standing in the ride's shadow he waited with anticipation for our turn to climb in the bucket and ride up, down and around. As the wheel turned, his smile grew and I knew I had a little daredevil on my hands.

When we got off he was filled with joy and he bounced his way into line for the Merry-go-round.

Before the day was finished our brave, little guy went on to conquer his first roller coaster, a electric train and flying dragons. We left the fair with a tired, happy family and enough awesome memories to last us through til next fall!

Happy Fall Y'all!
